Résumé
Depending on political-economic conditions, momentary interests, situated social practices and ideologies, borders can be brought to the fore or downplayed; they can fade or fully vanish. Drawing on data from a sociolinguistic and ethnographic project focusing on student mobility across language borders in multilingual Switzerland, this essay illustrates the variability of boundary-making.
